The new iPhone 13 mini is the latest and greatest phone on the market, but how does the iPhone 13 mini battery compare to its predecessor, the iPhone 12 mini? While both phones have many similarities, a few key differences set them apart.

One of these is their battery life – the iPhone 13 mini offers significantly longer battery life than the iPhone 12 mini. If you are looking for a mini iPhone that has excellent battery life, the iPhone 13 mini is worth considering.

The iPhone 12 mini had excellent battery life, but how does it compare to the iPhone 13 mini? According to some tests, the iPhone 13 mini has a much better battery.

The phone lasts for about 9 hours on a single charge, much longer than the 5 or 6 hours that the iPhone 12 mini would last. So if you’re looking for a phone with good battery life, the iPhone 13 mini is worth considering.

Competence

“We start by detecting a tiny difference of 179 mAh in favor of the most recent model. Of course, if we consider that they have bodies with very similar dimensions, the difference isn’t minimal. The ‘Pro’ versions of both models are linked together.”

  • iPhone 13 mini battery: 2,406 mAh
  • iPhone 12 mini battery: 2,227 mAh

“In the same way, these aren’t Apple-approved statistics since the company’s policies in this area are unusual, and they do not comment on them anywhere in their handbook or website. However, we may accept them as true based on several examinations conducted by specialists using both specific tools to collect the data and disassembly processes that have been used.”

Data provided by Apple

Apple does, however, provide device autonomy data. Although, to be honest, in a way that is perhaps not entirely appropriate in natural environments since Apple offers data based on a single continuous use that seems very distant from the actual usage we make of our devices. However and as we previously stated, it is not terrible to look at first what distinctions

  • Playing streaming video:
  • iPhone 13 mini: up to 13 hours
  • iPhone 12 mini: up to 10 hours
  • Playing local video:
  • iPhone 13 mini: up to 17 hours
  • iPhone 12 mini: up to 15 hours
  • Playing audio:
  • iPhone 13 mini: up to 55 hours
  • iPhone 12 mini: up to 50 hours

Additional Information

Keep in mind that both devices have quick charging and may be charged from 0 to 50 percent in 30 minutes using a 20 W or more power adapter. The first consideration is that the supplied power cable is not included in the package, and the second is that said cable might be more than 20 W, but it will not charge faster because of it.

It’s also possible that your battery may fail when it is too old, in which case you will need to purchase a replacement. On the other hand, if your iPhone’s battery is new or has not yet been damaged by excessive usage, then the charging process from 50% to 100 percent takes longer regardless of whether the optimized charging function has been enabled.

Both support the same charging methods with identical characteristics. They have a contemporary Lightning port through which they charge when connected to cables with the connector mentioned above. Still, they can also be recharged using a Qi-standard universal wireless charging base. They are also compatible with MagSafe accessories, Apple’s name for their proprietary magnet system that helps keep devices.

Performance analys

Once we know the data, we can enter what both iPhones can do thoroughly. We tested two devices in identical conditions (100% battery health, same settings, apps installed, similar system version. Therefore, both start on equal terms.

Day after day use

The most popular usage, in our opinion, is to aid discoverability and improve usability. There is no set standard, and no two users use the phone in the same way. In any case, we’ve included some usage averages that may be helpful for regular usage.

  • Social networks:20%
  • Messaging apps:18%
  • Video streaming : 16%
  • Video call : 12%
  • Navigation : 12%
  • Telephone : 8%
  • Camera : 8%
  • GPS : 5%
  • Podcast : 1%
  • Email : 1%

The iPhone was quite dominant after this. And we say this because even though we turned both phones off before hitting 0.00.

  • iPhone 13 mini: 14 hours (from 08:00AM to 00:13AM)
  • iPhone 12 mini: 11 hours (from :08 to 19:00)

Intense and demanding

In this scenario, we subjected the devices to a more extreme test by performing the actions that resulted in the most significant usage. This usage might be more common among professional iPhone users who make it nearly impossible to do their job without it.

In this example, the percentages were as follows:

  • Video streaming (Apple TV +, Netflix, YouTube, etc.): 24%
  • Videogames: 23%
  • Camera (photo and video): 22%
  • Navigation (Safari): 8%
  • Video call (FaceTime, Skype, etc.): 7%
  • Podcast (Apple Podcast, Overcast, etc.): 4%
  • Telephone (voice calls): 4%
  • GPS (Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, etc.): 3%
  • Messaging apps (Telegram, WhatsApp, etc.): 2%
  • Social networks (Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc.): 2%
  • Email (Mail, Spark, etc.): 1%
  • Use of WiFi vs. Mobile Data: 60% – 40%

This usage was not as good as it sounds: Both smartphones fell far short of the initial test’s result, with the iPhone 12 mini’s case being particularly telling.

  • iPhone 13 mini: 8 hours (7:00 a.m. to 3:14 p.m.)
  • iPhone 12 mini: 7 hours (7:00 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.)

When comparing the iPhone 13 mini battery with the mini 12, the iPhone 12 mini has been a great phone. It’s the perfect size for anyone who wants an easy-to-use smartphone that can also hold its own when it comes to battery life.

I’m excited about the new iPhone 13 mini release – and not just because Apple is finally going back up in screen size! The tests have shown that this latest model lasts longer on a single charge than any other previous generation, so if you need a reliable cell phone with good battery life, you should be considering this newest addition from Apple.
